"It Looks Good on Paper"
Every designer knows the frustration of a design that looks good on paper but somehow doesn't turn out quite like we expected. Will it strut like a peacock or turn out to be a pea-brained idea? Fortunately, I was quite pleased with the way this one turned out!
To create this dress, I used mulberry paper fused to lining fabric using MistyFuse. After experimenting with other products, I believe this dress wouldn't have been created without the MistyFuse. The feather motif and peacocks are stitched by machine (free motion) and then painted with watercolors and encaustic paints from Kandi Corp. The beautiful silk ribbon is Hannah Silk ribbon from Artemis.

Preliminary sketch

I pleated each ribbon in the center and stitched chains of loops together to make it easier to sew onto the dress. The hanging loops reminded me of green bananas.
